The rapid rise in artificial intelligence led to the first-ever legal framework on AI at the end of 2023, the EU's AI Act.

The AI Act, alongside the European Media Freedom Act, is particularly relevant to the media sector, and are important initiative for safeguarding Europeans.

The Stars4Media Day was a focus point for discussions on the future of the news media industry. Discussions covered topics such as the development of an industrial policy for the news media sector, practical applications of AI and innovation, and the challenges of disinformation, particularly in Eastern Europe.

There were keynote addresses from two Commissioners, Věra Jourová and Iliana Ivanova.
